The economics times among Christians that should be emanating from the lives of spirit-led, faith filled people of God is, "it doesn't matter what's happening in the world because we know what's happening on the inside of us with the Word".
"That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation (spiritually perverted and perverse), among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world, holding out [to it] and offering [to all men] the Word of Life, so that in the day of Christ I may have something of which exultantly to rejoice and glory in that I did not run my race in vain or spend my labor to no purpose." Phillipians 2:15-16(AMP)
What we can extract from this passage is that it doesn't matter what country you're in the midst of. It matters what you do and what you believe. When things are bad around you, it's even easier to see the witness of prosperity bestowed upon you as a child of God because of His goodness and faithfulness.
One of the battles that the church continues to lose on many fronts is walking in the revelation that God has intended for us to live our redeemed lives with confidence in the authority that Jesus has delegated to us. This authority was given to His body here on earth so we could advance the Kingdom of God. God'd blessing for us is found in our obedience to His Word. When we are obedient then the economics times we display to the world will broadcast a positive and hope-filled message.
This concept of reward for obedience is not a false doctrine. The Bible is full of many passages and examples of this truth. The life of Isaac, son of Abraham, is a great example.
"A severe famine struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham's time so Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt, but do sa I tell you. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father. I will cause your descendants to become as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my commands, decrees, and instructions." So Isaace stayed in Gerar." (Genesis 26:1-6)
"When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him." (Genesis 26 12-14)
As we carefully study this life story we can see that when God says "stay", then we should stay. And if He says "move" then we should move. Notice Isaac's reward for his obedience. He harvested a hundred times what he sowed. This harvest was indeed noticed by the Philistines. Also notice that he reaped this harvest the same year that he sowed it - while there was a famine in the land.
Once again, when we are obedient to Gods word it doesn't matter what's going on around us, what matters is what's going on inside us with the Word of God. When things are in line with God's word then the economics times will be pleasant for us and those around us.
The blessing of God and good economics times moves on us and then through us and changes everything around us - like it did in Isaac's situation. We are representatives of the blessing in tough times. We give people hope and draw them to see the goodness of God. It makes God attractive to a people who otherwise would never consider a relationship with God. Don't think for a minute that getting people to God via this method is not appropriate and that people would see God as a "sugar daddy". When someone "in need" experiences the love of the father their lives are changed forever. Being in relationship with Him makes the material blessing seem insignificant in comparison. These people desire the source of the blessing rather than the blessing.
Don't wait until there is famine in your "land" for you to believe in and trust God with your life. When the blessing does come, don't stop walking by faith. Keep believing God for good economics times. Life will only get better. There is so much to the goodness of God that we will never be able to fully experience it in it's entirety.
People should look at our lives and come to us and ask, "how is it that you're doing this, that you're overcoming?" Keep in mind that when you study the life of Isaac that you will discover he was not only a "symbol" of God's blessing, he was also a "source" of blessing. King Abimelech noticed that when Isaac moved out of the territory the blessing went with him because the famine conditions returned to the Kings land. As a result the King went after Isaac and demanded that Isaac strike a covenant with him. Abimelech wanted to stay connected to the "source" of the blessing for the sake of his kingdom.
You'll discover that the blessing works in the midst of a crooked generation. We are seen as a bright light in their dark world. We bring good economics times to the people and we can then reveal God the father and His Word to them.
