Lawlessness in America

This topic of lawlessness was presented in a publication by Gerald Flurry. I was able to obtain a copy after considering some of things I've seen developing in our branches of government. Particularly the Supreme Court.

The following is a review of his thoughts on this subject and I have to agree with most of what he argues in his publication. Feel free to add your insight at the end of this article.

There is a radical spirit of lawlessness in America today. Leaders flagrantly ignore the laws of the land. The President issues executive orders to selectively enforce the law - or to explicitly circumvent it. And politicians increasingly rule as tyrants, treating the nation as their own personal fiefdom where they are free to do whatever they wish.

I don't believe Americans realize how deadly dangerous this trend of lawlessness really is. Many people are concerned ad upset. Unfortunately, what most of them do not see is that there is a deeper dimension behind what is happening. What makes this development especially important to think about is the profound insight it gives into the real nature of the deeper threat facing America today.

Folks, this trend of lawlessness is DEADLY! Based on my understanding of biblical prophecy it will lead to things getting far worse in America as well as other parts of the world.

Lawlessness - our express lane to self destruction

The Greek Empire tried to establish the rule of law. It failed and the empire collapsed. The Roman Empire also tried to build a society based on law. The Romans were unable to do so and their empire fell. Many other empires experienced the same failure.

The famous British historian Paul Johnson wrote an article titled "No Law Without Order, No Freedom Without Law." It was printed in the Sunday Telegraph, Dec. 26, 1999. In it he wrote: "The rule of law, as distinct from the rule of a person, or class or people, and as opposed to the rule of force, is an abstract, sophisticated concept. It is mighty difficult to achieve. But until it is achieved, and established in the public mind with such vehemence that masses of individuals are prepared to die to uphold it, no other form of progress can be regarded as secure. The Greeks had tried to establish the rule of law but failed. The Romans had succeeded under their republic but Caesar and his successors had destroyed it. The essence of the rule of law is its impersonality, omnipotence and ubiquity. It is the same law for everyone, everywhere - kings, emperors, high priests, the stat itself, are subject to it. If exceptions are made, the rule of law begins to collapse - that was the grand lesson of antiquity".

Yes, that was indeed the grand lesson of history. But have we learned that lesson? Sadly, no. Failure to do so means we pay the supreme sacrifice - loss of our republic. The continual problem of man has been his failure to learn from history. One exception I'm thinking of as I write this is Winston Churchill. But that's for another time.

Are "masses of individuals ... prepared to die" to uphold America's rule of law. According to this historian, history thunders that it is our only security.

In many cases our people are confused about what the law is. And many others are actively working to undermine our laws, including our constitutional law and are getting away with it because of the ignorance of the masses (so much for our public schools).

Who is going to be willing to die for such confusion? Will such a deeply divided people sacrifice their lives for our republic and the rule of law? Unless the nation as a whole has a change of heart a renewing of their minds then it doesn't look like that will ever happen.

The people America and Britain lack the moral fortitude, the will, to even sacrifice the soldiers to fight a ground war. Our generals know that we lack the will to win any hard-fought battle - even i it directly relates to our own freedom. We have been transformed into the proverbial ninety-eight pound weakling unable and unwilling to fight back against the beach bully.

For example, America had to be bombed into World War II. Even one of the most diabolical leaders in history, Adolf Hitler, could not rouse us to fight until we were bombed by Japan. And America has become far more isolationist under Barack Obama.

Americans are not prepared to die to defend our security, as we were in the past. This is the supreme sign that our will has been broken - and that our republic cannot stand. We must make very radical changes to save our country.

Our forefathers were willing to die to establish the rule of law. Many Americans died in the Civil War to sustain our constitutional law. How different they were from our people today who are learning to live in the midst of lawlessness.
